Julie R. Colton
Attorney Colton is a family law attorney and mediator. She graduated from Gannon University with a degree in Psychology in 2002, and from University of Pittsburgh School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 2005. She was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and the Western District in 2006. Prior to joining VOELKER & GRICKS, LLP, Attorney Colton clerked in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, Family Division for the Honorable Judge Eaton, and worked at various family and civil law firms. Attorney Colton has been trained as a Mediator and Parenting Coordinator.
Attorney Colton has served in a variety of leadership positions in the Allegheny County Bar Association including Chair of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD), Co-Chair of the YLD’s Diversity Committee, Co-chair of the Family Law Section’s Pro Bono Committee, a member of the Board of Governors, and a member of the Public Service Committee. Attorney Colton is also active in the Allegheny County Chapter of the Matrimonial Inns of Court, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She was nominated to the 2011 class of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s Young Fellows program and has been included in the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list.
Attorney Colton has presented about the changes to the custody law that took effect in January 2012 and support law updates. She volunteers with the Allegheny County Family Court Pro Se Motions Programs and the Neighborhood Legal Services Pro Bono PFA Program. She is also a member of the planning committee for the Garbage Bag Gala which benefits the local Salvation Army Family Caring Center.
